I am currently in Taipei right now! We got a call from our Temple Sisters (Sister version of APs) yesterday telling us that we needed to catch the 6:30 AM train to Taipei Monday morning. So we get to spend P-day in Taipei! We’re here for a training follow up meeting tomorrow, and we won’t get back to Taidong until Tuesday night around 11pm L but that’s okay because we’re in Taipei right now! Yayyy! I’ll be staying with Sister Kirkham tonight in ShuangHe (雙和－中和及永和), and Sister Oviatt is staying with Sister Hendricks in SongShan (松山). They switched MTC companionships on us! hahaa!
On Tuesday, we got a big surprise! Because visa waiters are finally getting to Taiwan, we have enough missionaries to reopen the Sisters in the Taidong 3rd branch. So they emergency transferred Sister Giles down here! Sister Giles is a generation older than me (reported Aug 20th) and she’s in a trio with Sister Mao and Oviatt so she can get to know the area before she trains her baby next transfer! So we’ve been having a lot of fun in our apartment, laughing about the good ole times in the MTC!
Also on Tuesday, we had Specialized Training with President and Sister Day! The Assistants and Temple Sisters also came down to give us training about the “Languages” we need to learn. We learned about the Language of the Spirit, the Language of Love, the Language of Taiwan, and the Language of the Gospel. It was hecka sweet. Then we went on exchanged with Sister Su, one of the Temple Sisters. It was so much fun and I learned so much! President Day also revealed to us that this transfer we met all of the requirements to qualify for the Hualien Stake! So if the First Presidency passes the request, the stake will be official in June! THIS IS SO EXCITING! The Taiwan Taipei Mission will be the only Mission in the Asia Area without a District! ALL STAKES WHOOHOOO!
President Day introduced us to the new Easter initiative, #BecauseHeLives. It’s the Easter 2015 version of #BecauseOfHim and #HeIsTheGift. Everyone go to HeLives.mormon.org and share the video on your Facebook page!! It’s an amazing video!!!
Here’s my letter to President Day:
Dear President Day,
First off, I just want to say thank you so much for coming down to Taidong for Specialized Training! I really enjoyed the scripture you shared with us…D&C 46. I love how God gave each one of us our individual gifts so we can use them to our best advantage. And I think the reason we are in our missionary companionships is because God knows that our strengths can complement our companion’s strengths. In other words…companionships equals dream team!
From the less active list you gave us, we found Hu Jiemei. We visited her and started teaching her daughter, Liting. Well…good news! Liting was baptized on Saturday! And we brought her mother back into activity! Total miracle!
Sister Huang has been very sick ever since Tuesday afternoon. Every time she would feel better, we’d leave the house to try and chuanjiao (傳教), but one we step out of the apartment, her fever came back. So it was a week full of calling formers and potentials. We did set some appointments with potentials, so it wasn’t a total loss!
I hope y’all are doing well! I miss all of you dearly and I hope you the best! Remember that you all have your own special gift, and you have it to take advantage of! Us it well! Love y’all!
